Display Categories without products below.

Hi
How do i get the categories to display without the products showing below the categories on the default categories page ?. The products should only show, if / when the visitor clicks on the category. I have read through all of the threads related to this and tried many different ways to fix it but nothing. Please help and try to explain in (Hika for Dummies) language. Thanks.

In the options of your menu/module you have to set the option "Sub elements filter " to "Direct sub element".
And you must not have products in the main category.
