I have some products that are not to be purchased YET by clicking the add to cart button.... these are services, not actually physical products.

Before the customer can actually purchase the item, I need them to fill out a form with some info they need for the service and then at the end of the form I've included the HTML link for the product so the service purchase (sign up) can be in the cart and purchased with other actual products, if necessary.

1. I had to create a product for the service so that I could have an HTML link for it when the customer finished filling out the form.
2. I deleted the categories for the product (the default was "product"), so I simply deleted it on the product page.
3. However, when the customer clicks on the menu item which is set up to show all categories...that product shows up with an ADD TO CART button which.... I do not want! The customer should not purchase the product BEFORE they fill out a form.

How do I tell the system NOT to show in the category menu item those items that have no category assigned?

If you go to my site and click on the Web Store menu item....you'll see 4 categories that I WANT to display:
post cards
posters
new consultants
clearance

What I DON'T want to show up are the newsletters that appear at the bottom without a category because they should NEVER been seen here...but only once the customer signed up for a newsletter and fills out a form first.

Is this possible?

I've solved it.

For those following this thread, this is what I did:

1. I created a new category simply called it PRODUCTS.
2. Then for the categories I WANT to display when the menu item is clicked for my webstore...I made the parent category my new PRODUCTS category.
3. Then, the products in the categories I want to display...automatically are now in the parent PRODUCT category (now as sub categories that I originally created).
4. I then altered my Joomla menu item to point to the PRODUCT main category.

Voila

All the products that have NO category indicated no longer show up!
