-- HikaShop version -- : 2.4
-- Joomla version -- : 3.4.1
-- PHP version -- : 5.4

I have the HikaShop Starter: 2.4.0 version. I tried to show all the brand listing and the number of products by each brand. However, if I pick "Brand' as the type of content, it can't display the products, but if I selected it as "category" then it shows fine. I have added brand category under the products.

May I know if this is the way to do it? I want to know how to link different products to different brand when I enter the product information. Is this feature not available on starter version?

Hope you can answer asap.

Hi,

Yes the best way is to create brands categories, then in the product edition page, you have to select many categories in the categories part to assign many brands to one product.

Hi,

THen when I create the module to display the brand, if I choose "brand' as the type of contents, it will show no product under that brand? WHy is that? So what does that "brand" type of content for?

Hi,

You have to create a content menu listing the brands, then associate a module to this menu (automatically generated), this module will list the products based on the current brand.

Hi,

I have done the following:

1) Create sidemenu to show all brand names and link to below menu - as shown in hikabrandmodule.png
2) Create a menu listing - as shown in hikamenulist.png
3) Associate a module displaying all products and select "from the same brand" at "content on product page" as shown on hikaassocmodule.png

However, as shown on output.png, there is no product listed out on the page, while it shows at least one product count on the menu listing. Can you let me know what i have done wrong?

Thanks,
Melinda

HI,

You should not use brand categories if you add them in the categories listing of the product.
You should use normal categories in that case.
And in that case, you should use the "category" type in your menu item type of content menu and in your module too.
Then, it should work properly.

Hi,

Items are added under "Brand" Categaories, and not product categories. Please see brand.png and brand002.png.

Also, i have tried to change back all types of contents to "Categories" for content menu and the first module, but it still does not show the product listing. Please see attached.

Hi,

Yes, I understood that. And that's why it doesn't work. You shouldn't use brands in the "categories" listing of your products. You should only add normal categories there or the listings won't work properly.

OK Thanks.

But may i know what the purpose of having "Brand" as the type of content? In what scenario we would use "brand" as the type of content?

It would display a list of the brands, and when you click on one brand, you would then see a list of the products attached to that brand thanks to the "brand" setting of the products (and not via the categories listing of the product).

Hi,

Exactly. That is what i want but it does not work on brand listing. Now i have to put my brands under a new category to display all brands and then click to display product listing related to that brand.

Hi,

It does work fine for me. It's actually already setup properly when you install Hikashop.
All you have to do is this:
- Go in the menu Products>Brands, and create new brands.
- Select the brand of each product in the "brand" setting of each product
- Enable the "brands listing" module that is installed with HikaShop via the Joomla modules manager.

If that doesn't work on your end, it means that you must have messed up something (the module settings, the brand categories structure, or something like that).
