-- HikaShop version -- : 2.6.1

Dear Mr,

What happens if the name of the root is changed in something else.
I did this by mistake.
The root itself is moved to a sub-category after a rebuild.
All the existing categories are beneath the new root and the "root" sub category.
Is this a problem for the functionality of hikashop?

Hi,

The root is the root ; it has no parent.
You should not edit that category and in case you want to rename it ; you can use the Joomla translation system.

After that, if you change directly the name (and just the name) in the Database ; you won't break anything.
But if you change the type of the category into something else ; that's a lot different.

Hi,

I have somewhat the same problem. I did not rename the root, but I removed the parent category from the subcategory (edit inside the subcategory - didnot delete it) and then the subcategory became the root in the admin category structure. Cannot find a way to change it.

Perhaps I can do this?

You can't delete root categories via the interface.
So you'll have to delete the categories you don't want via your phpmyadmin in the table hikashop_category.
When you're done, click on the "check database" button of the HikaShop configuration and then the "rebuild" button of the categories listing so that the category data gets straighten up in the database.

found it - and restored the category structure. Edited the hikashop_category in phpmyadmin. Set root to category_parent_id to 0 (NULL) and the made sure that the "problem category" was sett to the value as the "brother category"

Now back to normal.
