Automatically unpublish products

Can we automatically unpublish products that are no longer available?

I would like to know it too. I think this can be done with mass action help. A tutorial would be welcome. How to unpublish product when quantity gets to 0...

Maybe one could run a cron job then.. but what would it look like?

Here is mass action to unpublish product when quantity is changed to 0.
But it's very bad practice to unpublish products.

I did a case study on this subject and it has negative impact on SEO.
When product is unpublished, Hikashop display soft 404, what is generally an empty page.
Visitors landing on such page tend to leave site immediately.
Google has problem identifying such pages as error pages which leads to a lot of duplicate content. declining crawl rate and number of indexed pages.

Hi, ours is jut a school shop so SEO is not an issue. We don't use quantity so need it done based on availability date i..e once the date is past the product must be unpublished,

You have to set up cron task to run this mass action periodically

1. Is it possible to use this mass action for products with variants ?
2 ..and also make it unpublish the main product when all the variants are sold out ?
