Please see attached image.

This happens on different PC's, any browser. Tried clearing the cache etc. All other categories in the tree work fine.

Hi Mohamed,

I had the same problem, so I tried this fix but now I have a situation :-(
It seems to have copied the tree ...???

See attached Image.
The tree in the bottom part, as of the second "product category" is how I need it to be ...

How do I fix this ?

BR,
Joris

Hello Joris,

That's actually weird, but in your case the only valid "product category" is the one under the "Root" category so you should probably make sure that your products only use that category.

Hi Mohammed,

Thanks for the reply.

The funny thing is, that my products are in both categories.

If I open the categories under "root" and I click on one of them, it actually closes the root category and jumps to the same category under the second "product category".

Don't know if this makes sense to you.

If you want to have a look, I'm happy to provide you with login data in PM.

Thanks for the help.

BR,

Joris

Hi,

Did you try the "rebuild" button in the category section ?
Regarding the structure of your categories, I think that you have a category with no parent ; the "rebuild" function can fix that kind of issue. Otherwise it will be necessary to edit the incriminated category in order to re-set his parent category (or do it manually in the database).

Hi,

You have a problem with either the Patches category, or the product categories category, or the root category.
So click on the parent category in the explorer on the left, and then edit these categories and verify that their "parent category" setting is correct when available and then save the category. Then, click on rebuild again and that should fix the issue.

Hi Nicholas,

I tried what you wrote.

In the explorer is a category named "Patches" : this one I can not edit ?
It holds these :
root : : no parent : no field available to give it a parent
product category : no parent : no field available to give it a parent
taxation category : no parent : no field available to give it a parent
order status : no parent : no field available to give it a parent
manufacturer : no parent : no field available to give it a parent

Funhockey : product category
Patches : product category (when trying to save this I get the message : Error - An element with the same alias already exists - Error Saving)

All the categories below Funhockey & Patches (under the root) have the correct parents.

I then tried to "Rebuild the tree", but no changes ?

Thanks for all the help !

Hi,

When you edit the Patches category empty the alias field and try again to save it.
That should work and then you can use the rebuild button again.
Note that you apparently have several patches categories, so make sure that you edit all of them.

Hi Nicholas (and the rest of the team :-) ),

I tried the suggested solution :

1) I changed the alias to empty, but then I could not save (actually the old alias kept coming back).
2) I changed the alias in one "patches" category, but then it was also changed in the other one ?
3) About the category "Patches" above the root category, I still don't know how to remove or edit this one ...?

Although, I have to say, there is already one "Patches" less, if you compare the first image I've attached to the last one ...

Hi,

So I think that the best would be to manually fix the errors in the database.
If you take a look at the content of the table "hikashop_category" (thanks to "phpmyadmin"), you will see that kind of data :
pasteboard.co/7iQre0eXG.png

The "ROOT" category must have the category_id " 1 " and have a category_parent_id set to " 0 ".
No other category should have a category_parent_id with " 0 ".

After that, there is a part more "complicated" with the category_left and category_right ; which are using the nested set model, just like Joomla for his categories :
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nested_set_model

Hi,

Glad to know that your categories are fixed.
If you have any issue with the nested model ; the "rebuild" button should be able to correct the elements.

Hi Jerome,

Yes, after sometime messing with the nested categories in PHP MyAdmin, I found that the rebuild worked better then me messing around :-) :-)

Thanks again !
