Limited Edition, Numbered Product

Hi,

I'd like to manage a Limited Edition, Numbered Product.
- It has numbered copies, 01-99. Number choice is required during order.
- Each number can be chosen just once.
- You can choose to get it sended to you or not (shipping as a choice)

The way I see it, I have two choices:

- Characteristics: two main products, one for shipping, one not shipping. Each sub-product acts as one of the numbers, price 0, number in stock 1.
pro: each number will be chosen just once.
con: don't like the full list of 99 similar options, can't set it to required.

- Options via custom filed, dropbox, same two products for shippping and not.
pro: better and clearer customer experience, can set it to required (or just set a defalut value)
con: numbers can be chosen multiple times.

Is there a way to get the pros of both the solutions, like maybe a custom field, whose values can be chosen just once?

Hi,

I don't see why you would have two main products. If you do that, then people could order twice the same number. One for the shipping and one for the non shipping product, no? Wouldn't that be problematic ?

I also don't see why you say that you can't see it to required? Characteristics cannot not be selected. So in that sense, they are required.

I also don't see why it would be a problem to get the full list with characteristics and not with custom fields ? In both case, it's a list of 100 elements. In fact, it's actually a pro of the characteristic solution since you can configure HikaShop to not display the values without stock in the characteristic dropdown and thus the list would be quickly reduced while the custom field would always display all the choices.

In your case, and with the information you've provided so far, I would actually do it with only one product, and one characteristic for the number selection and a stock of 1 for each variant, and an option product so that the customer can select whether he wants it or not (and potentially have a fee for that if necessary). It would seem like the best solution and I don't see any cons.

Thank you for your answer, but I still can't get it to properly work.

Let's say I have Product PA, stock 99.
I also have variant products P1, P2, P3, ..., stock 1 each.
Hikashop shows a column with all the variants with yes/no choice each, but I can order Product PA without selecting any of them.

Could you please help me with a step by step setting?
