duplicated url on products

-- HikaShop version -- : 2.6.4
-- Joomla version -- : 3.6.5

Hi,
on Google search control I've discovered that i have all my products with duplicated urls.
For example
www.lacasettabio.it/negozio-online/salse...nte-piccante-vendita
www.lacasettabio.it/negozio-online/prodo...nte-piccante-vendita
On the first one url there is the category name and on the second one there isn't it.
What can I do to avoid this?

Hi,

The problem on your website is that on your product pages, you have several canonical URLs:
take.ms/QdgV5
The one added by HikaShop, and another one added by something else on your website. Probably a system plugin for SEO/SEF.
When you have several canonical URLs on a page, it actually nullifies the effect of having a canonical URL and thus you get that problem.
You should disable the plugin adding the wrong canonical URL to your products pages.

no, I have not other system seo/sef system plug in.
If i remember well since joomla 3. there is a canonical system inside the joomla core.
Is'nt it?
If yes, how can disable it?
If I'm going to disable it what about the other no Hikashop urls of my site?

If I can't disable the Joomla canonical core system What about if I copy the same Joomla core canonical urls on Hikashop?
What can be the effect if in my html there are twice the same rel=canonical tags?

Otherwise, can i disable the Hikashop canonical urls system and leave enabled only the Joomla core canonical system?

Hi,

Can you check that you don't have the SEF system plugin enabled in the Joomla plugins manager ?
You say you don't have it activated, but it often comes from it.

The canonical URL system allows you to avoid duplicate content on your website. Do you have pages outside HikaShop which can be accessed via different URLs ?
If you do, then, instead of using a SEF plugin which adds a canonical URLs to all the pages, use one where you can decide for which component the canonical URLs would be added, and thus exclude HikaShop's pages.
If you don't, then you can just lead that plugin turned off.

Having several canonical URL tags on your pages is not valid. And what the SEF plugin does, of using the current URL as canonical URL won't help you avoid duplicate content SEF issues. So removing the HikaShop canonical URL, or using the canonical URL given by the SEF plugin won't help you.

Hi,
when i say " I have not other seo/sef system plug in" i was meaning that i have not third part plugin.
About the Joomla sef system plugin, yes, i have it enabled.
I've just tried to disabled it and the double canonical disappear but by this way i have two issue:
1- I have not the canonical on the not Hikashop page
2- all the images with the urls without the domain ( for example url like this one "/images/casetta/Casettafavicon1.jpg") are not loaded

So, then, I've tried to leave enabled the joomla sef plugin and I set NO on Hikashop "Force canonical URLs on listings".
Unfortunatelly, there are always two canonical urls on my html page.

Is it possible to turn off the canonical system of Hikashop? If yes what do you think about this solution?
Do you know some free plugin that i can use instead of joomla sef plugin and where i set the page ?

I've had some tests with
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/extensi...etadata/addcanonical
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/extensi...adata/aimy-canonical
But I have not had positive results.
Now i have tried this:
-Joomla sef plugin enabled
-set NO on Hikashop "Force canonical URLs on listings
-leave empty the canonical url field on product
This time it seems to work.
What do you think about this solution?

Hi,

1. Disabling the SEF plugin won't remove the canonical URL from HikaShop. Please double check.

2. You can leave the plugin enabled and the domain setting of the plugin empty. That way, it will keep fixing your images URLs and won't add its canonical URL to the pages.

3. If you don't want the HikaShop canonical URLs, you can remove it in the settings of the products. But I don't recommend that since you'll have duplicate content flagged by search engines.

4. There are many of them. I've never used any. It's up to you:

i've found and installed this payment plugin:
System - Aimy Canonical (PRO)
Also, I've enabled the System - SEF (joomla) plugin with the field site domain empty.
Now it seems to work.
Please, could you double check?
