Conditional Custom Field Display

-- PHP version -- : 5.6

I have Ring Engraving Options Yes-No, and Engraving Text field.

Is it possible to make it so shoppers have to select Engraving "Yes" before the Engraving Text field is displayed?

PS: Engraving Yes/No is a product valiant and not custom field as they have engraving prices associated with them.

Hi,

There is no option for that.
That would require to add a bit of javascript in the file "option" of the view "product" via the menu Display>Views so that when the option is changed the field can be hidden/displayed.
A developer should be able to do that easily for you.

Based on the info from this thread: www.hikashop.com/support/forum/product-c...on-custom-field.html

I added a new Custom Field "Engraving Text?" (Yes/No) that triggers the Engraving Text (text field) display.

However when "Engraving Text?" Yes is selected and the Engraving Text is entered, the Engraving text is not carried over to the cart.

Am I missing some more steps for this to work as intended?

What type of custom field are you using (product, item, order) ?

Hikashop: 2.6.0

Custom fields for "Engraving Text" are both text field type in Item table.

Hi,

That's hard to say. It's probably a bug with the handling of the custom item fields. We've added many fixes since then to handle them properly.
I would recommend updating your HikaShop, then setting the new display options of the custom item fields like you want and it should work better.
Note however that updating to HikaShop 3.x is a big step so I recommend first making a copy of the website and testing the update on that copy.
