Hello,

On my website to get to a "product page" you currently go to:

Category list > Product list > Product page

At the moment my product page is pointing to the "category list" template. This makes the CSS code difficult. Is there any way of making all my product pages point to a certain template?

Hope this makes sense.

Regards,
Josh.

Hi,

In your menu item in the Joomla menu manager, you can select the template that you want and that template will be used for all the pages of the menu item.
So if you have a products listing menu item, all the products displayed in the listing of that menu item will have that template automatically.

Otherwise, you also have extensions to set the template based on conditions:

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

Just to clarify, is there no way to get my product pages pointing at a separate template when they are accessed this way: Category list > Product list > Product page ? Do I really have to spend another 30 USD on a module? Isn't there a free module which has the same functionality?

Thanks,
J.

Hi,

I can't answer to that as I don't understand what you mean.
Your messages seem to imply that you have another way to access to the product page on your website and that you only want to change the template when using a specific set of instructions to access the product page. Is that the case ? If so, what are the other ways to access the product page ?
I don't even know if "Category list" in your message is a menu item or a module, if "Product list" is a sub menu item or another page of the same menu item as the categories listing, if "Product page" is a sub menu item or another page of the same menu item as the products listing, etc.
And you didn't provide a link to the shop.
So basically, I don't know your situation and thus your question is too vague to be able to say if there is a solution, even though we ask for details when you create a new topic on our forum.
That's why I can only gave a generic answer.

Hi Nicolas,

Allow me to explain in more detail. I cannot provide a link to the shop as it is currently internal for security reasons.

My homepage has links 4 which lead to separate product categories. These pages are all separate menu items and are calling the template "category_template". When I click on a product I would like it to call a different template ("product_template") instead of inheriting the "category_template".

Does this make sense?

Thank you,
J.

Hello,

I'm afraid your request is outside HikaShop environment.
The management of the menus and the fact that you can assign a template with a menu is fully related to the Joomla core.
If you want to change the template on the product page ; you'll need to use different URL (= different menus) for your listing and your product page (thanks to the canonical settings) : otherwise you'll need to perform some custom development or use the extensions Nicolas mentioned.

Hello,

I have found a free module that achieves what I want.

https://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/extension/style-a-design/templating/advanced-template-manager/

Hope this helps someone else.

Thanks support for helping me understand this.

J
