Hello,

today I've made a big mistake. I accidently trashed some menu items (hikasop products listing and hikashop category listing). After untrashing them, my canonical urls are not working anymore :-(
Evenrything worked fine before I've trashed the menu items. My product SEF name = produkt however every link to a product with canonical 'produkt' in it, is not working anymore. Same for category SEF.
It seems like something is broken after trashing the menu items.... Weird.....
Can you please help me... I'm lost.
If you want I can mail you some credentials to login in my test system

Hi,

If the menu items are untrashed it should still work fine.
So there must still be a problem with your menu items. Can you check that they are published etc ?
Worst case, you can delete them and recreate them and configure them the same way and it should work. The only requirement is that they have the same alias for the SEF system to match them.

Hi Nicolas,

I've blanked out the canonical for 1 product and I let the system create the new canonical... however the new one differs from the old one (which worked before)

old canonical : index.php/produkt/absolute-3-kleurenkaart-19-kleuren
new canonical :index.php/kleur/produkt/absolute-3-kleurenkaart-19-kleuren

as you can see the word 'kleur' is added in the generated canonical (this is the name of a category) while my SEF name for products is 'produkt'

Hi,

"kleur" must be the alias of your menu item. for the URL to work without it is only possible if the default menu item of your website is of the type "HikaShop products listing" or HikaShop categories listing".
So I suppose that the issue with the old canonical links not working anymore is because your homepage menu item is not of that type anymore.

Hi Nicolas,

you're right. Since I've chosen another default menu item it was not working anymore. I've changed it back to a hika menu item of the type you described and it works.

Thank you very much for the support!

best regards
Edward
