Does Adding a watermark to Product Listing Images work?

-- HikaShop version -- : 3.1.1

I have tried setting up a watermark image to display over the images that I have created myself for the site, however, I have set it up in the HikaShop config, but there seems to be an issue where the image never actually gets uploaded and the problem might just be with the rendering of the page where you configure the image. I have tried to upload the image but once you save it and look again, the image I have uploaded no longer shows in the image box and it says "No Image".

Can someone tell me if this feature actually works or if there is a bug here? Please see screenshot.

Cheers

Hi,

This works fine for us. So it could be that the image is too big for the restrictions you have in place on your website, or the image is invalid, or you don't have the permissions in the upload folder for HikaShop to store the images it's uploading.

PS: there were no screenshots in your message.

Can't be an issue with size, as the water mark was less then 300 x 300 and the image itself is 800 x 800.. Sorry about the screenshot, forgot to hit insert, it would explain a lot if you saw it. I will add it here.

Hello,

Two remarks, your back end seems strange, maybe that can explain some backend malfunction ? Does it come from Page Builder ?... Just guess, I can't be sure of it.
Anyway you can try to temporarily unpublished this plugin and see it that change something.

And second, 300 x 300 pixels is by far very big for a watermark.
Other point which format do you use ? Jpg, png...?
Awaiting news from you.

Regards

Hi Philip,

To answer your questions as best I can...

"your back end seems strange" - I could not agree more...

"Does it come from Page Builder" - When you ask where it comes from, I am assuming your referring too where I was in the backend where I was trying to set the watermark in the screenshot? If so, I was in "Components->HikaShop - > Configuration - > Main - > Images If that is not what you meant, then I am not sure what you were asking.

"Anyway you can try to temporarily unpublished this plugin and see it that change something" - As I am not the host Admin, nor the original site designer, I will bring this up to my Developer and get his take on that. I don't know anything about doing that, and I am hands off when it comes to the backend server (ie Joomla, HikaShop, all extensions) so I will ask him to respond to your suggestion.

"And second, 300 x 300 pixels is by far very big for a watermark." The reason I choose 300x300 was because I was assuming the watermark would have been placed on the larger product image that the customer can click on to see what I will call the zoom, or full size image which is 800x360, and I wanted the watermark to completely cover the center of the image. I figured that HikaShop would have created a smaller version of the watermark for the "thumbnail" image on the product listing page. I have attached image where in lieu of a HikaShop generated watermark, I layered my own watermark on the images since I took the pics and wanted to deter others from stealing my handiwork. This way you can see why I chose the size of 300x300. I also attached the file I tried to use

for the watermark[/b]

"Other point which format do you use ? Jpg, png" The watermark image I attempted to use was a PNG with a transparent background. Only the actual visual part of the watermark is in the image, the rest is transparent.

"Awaiting news from you." I hope I have answered your questions well enough.

Thank you!

Hi,

From what I can see, the issue comes from a javascript error you have on the page.
If you open the console of your web browser on that page, you should see the javascript error.
Please provide it.
It's probably a jquery conflict with another extension on the website (a plugin probably). In that case, there are several things to do:
- you can try disabling the system plugins one by one and see if that helps in order to identify the plugin creating the conflict.
- you can try installing and enabling the jquery easy plugin.

Hi,

It indeed confirms that there is a jquery conflict with something on your backend.
It's something we already fixed.
Download the install package on our website and install it on yours and that will fix the issue and it will then work properly.

hi Nicolas,

Since that is out side my wheelhouse, can you please verify the package that we need and I will send an email to my developer asking him to take care of that? That is something I don't have the ability to do (regardless of permissions, I was not given the authority to do any updates or installs). Probably better that way because I love to find new extensions and learn them, sadly, installing something on the backend could affect the other website owners hosted here) so it's better I have my developer handle this :)

Hello,

I don't understand what you expected by saying this : "can you please verify the package" ?

Hi,

Just download the install package of the Business edition via the menu My account>My subscriptions on our website and use that package in the Joomla installer and it will perform the update. Your developer should be able to do that for you.

What you just said was what I was expecting :) I wasn't sure if you were asking us to reinstall the entire HikaShop extension, or perhaps there was a plugin ffor the watermark image up load that you were referring to, that is what I was looking for you to confirm the name of the package you were recommending be installed. Unfortunately, the reinstall of HikaShop is outside my scope of permissions so I will ask my developer to take care of that.

Thank you!
