Hi,

On some (not all) product links present in product listing, I have some links to the product page correctly working, while others giving 404 error.

SEF url configuration on "Force canonical URLs on listings" is set to "No:generate URLs"

As you can see in the page I linked (please note that to access it you have to log in with credentials aaaa / aaaa), some products like the first one (Aidex) or Bikader have the link correctly working, while most of the others give 404 (i.e: Amaless, Amasci, Blumirtax).

In the pages where I inserted some specific products display via the plugin (see www.ecupharma.it/it/aree-farmaceutiche/neuroscienze-2 ) , the product URLs are different from the ones generated in the listing page (the structure is [domain]/it/component/hikashop/prodotto/[product_name]), and neither working (404 error). More, if I turn off SEF on the site, these links generated by the plugin remain identical (SEF URLs on a non-SEF site), therefore redirecting to homepage.

Can you please help solving this issue?
Thanks in advance

Hi,

If you see SEF URLs on the listings while you have the SEF system deactivated, then it means that there is a caching issue.
Please turn off all the caching on your website.
Also, do you use a SEF extension like sh404SEF ? Such extension can have a cache of the URLs and it can happen that the cache is not up to date and it then create such 404 errors. Clearing the cache of the SEF extension can help in that case.
And yes, having canonical URLs forced on listings can also cause such issue but you say it's deactivated so it's not coming from that.
Finally, deactivating the "remove category and product ids" setting of the HikaShop configuration can also help when the issue comes from the alias in the URL being invalid. So try that.

Hi,

only a part of the problem was solved: by deactivating the "remove category and product ids", I had all the products URLs in listings correctly working.

But the issue in the products displayed via the content tag insertion plugin remains:
in SEF mode, the URLs simply do not work (and have a quite different structure from the same product as displayed in regular listing, as I wrote before:
[domain]/it/component/hikashop/prodotto/[product_name] instead of [domain]/it/prodotti/specialita-farmaceutiche/[id]-[product_name]
in non-SEF mode, they still have SEF URLs.

About your suggestions:

If you see SEF URLs on the listings while you have the SEF system deactivated, then it means that there is a caching issue.
Please turn off all the caching on your website.

Joomla cache was already disabled.

Also, do you use a SEF extension like sh404SEF ?

No.

Hi,

I still don't see how it's possible to have SEF URLs when the SEF system is deactivated.
It must come from one of the extensions on your website.
Try deactivating them one by one and test each time if it helps.

Hi,

I tried to disable extensions and test each time, as you suggested. But with no success.
Please note, though, that I skipped disabling joomla native components (I did it only on external components). Should be worth trying to disable also these ones?

Could be of any help finding the source of the issue remarking that also in SEF mode these URLs are not working (they are different from the ones in the regular product listing)?

Marco

Hello,

We take a look at the page and we see that you're now using a HikaShop product listing module in the page (instead of the content plugin).
We also see that the URL are SEF, without a menu ID but the generated URL are correct and working.

Hello,

yes, I had to solve quickly the issue one way or another, so I changed the product display on those pages embedding content modules instead of plugin tags.

This solved my urgent need (the client asked me to fix the issue ASAP) but the original problem remains unsolved.

Thanks anyway

Hello,

Since your website is using a very old HikaShop version, please understand that we can't provide efficient support.
The issue you have might already been solved since the release of HikaShop 2.5.0 (more than 2 years ago).
