Hi,
I have a product;
SURGICAL BASICS KNEE SUPP LGE

that can be searched for but cannot be located under any of the categories it is assigned to. If you browse the menu from;
here and choose 'sports' it should appear but doesn't. Also, the numbers of items listed next to the categories are correct but the items in the categories don't add up to that amount.

I've attached images showing the product's set up on the back end (keywords, categories) and the menu location where the 'sports' category is listed.

Many thanks,
Ian and Stu

Hi,
it shows everything at that level (i.e. Parent category) but when I drill down into the assigned category;

braces-and-therapy

it's not there.

Is there something we're not doing because some products do show up in the child category?

Regards,
Ian and Stu

Hi,

You can see that you have two categories named "BRACES AND THERAPY":
monosnap.com/file/cvYRkz99LlqhqEo3sevfaRRlyN25a2
The problem is that since both category have the same name, the link to them is the same (same alias).
So the system displays the products of one of these categories (the one with 7 categories) whether you click on one or the other.
I would recommend to delete one of the two categories and reassign the products to the remaining category.

Hi,
this often happens to us when we add additional product using the csv import method and we're not sure how to make them merge. Would this be caused by something that can be easily fixed or do we just need to clear the entire inventory and re-upload the entire store from scratch with new items included?

Regards,
Ian and Stu

edit: I think that the duplicates have an extra space in them. Before I erase everything and troubleshoot the csv, is there any what to edit categories that sit under a parent category? They don't seem to be editable. - Thanks

We got it to work but had to do a fresh import of everything which seems to have removed our images (we have a back-up). Leading and trailing spaces in categories was the problem causing slight differences that were had to see. The other problem is, if you have a parent category but no child categories issues arise.

It would be good to have a configuration function that turned off the auto-deletion of images when products are remove because you may just be doing some maintenance.

Solved.

Thanks for taking a look,
Ian and Stu.

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback. We'll look at adding an option in the future for that.

Hi,
I did another update and noticed that the pictures are still there after a deletion and re-importing of the whole shop but aren't being recognised. Will I need to re-upload them or will Hika run a background process to recognise them? The paths haven't changed.

Thanks,
Ian and Stu

Hi,

I'm sorry but I'm not sure what you mean ?
A Hikashop update won't change anything. Or are you talking about another kind of update ?
If you're talking about a CSV import, as long as the image file name in the "images" column of the CSV corresponds to the name of the file in the upload folder, it will link to it.

Hi,
I have found that, if I delete all of the products in order to re-import the full inventory (via csv), the old images won't work. For some reason I have to re-upload or copy them back from another directory on the same server for them to be recognised.
I'm using cpanel to do this and it's working. So this feedback is for information only.

Regards,
Ian and Stu.
