Duplicate canonical tags on chategories listing

Hello,

SEO Spider advices that I should remove the duplicate canonical tags.
It was successful on product pages ( show.php and listing.php ) but on Categories
I do not find the source of duplicate. There are 3 files there listing_div, listing_list and listing_img_title
but do not contain any canonical code.

Where can I find it?
Force canonical is turned on.

Hi,

HikaShop adds a canonical URL to the page if you specify one in the product (for product pages) or in the category (for products/categories listings).
So one canonical URL tag is probably added by HikaShop because of that.
The other one is not added by HikaShop. It must be added by another SEO tool. It could be the SEF plugin of Joomla, or some third party SEF tool.
I would recommend to keep HikaShop's canonical URL tag and remove the other one as normally you want to keep use HikaShop's and not the others.

Hello Nicolas,

I have not found that seo plugin what cause this duplicate canonical link on categories.
I have only ITP meta but after turned off mode the duplication was visible.
It is strange that only categories already have these duplicate canonical but products pages have not after
I removed the code from template .
Are there any other places where category canonical can be added?

Hi,

Most of the time I saw a similar issue of two canonical meta tags on a HikaShop page, it came from the SEF plugin of Joomla.
So I would recommend to check it first (it is of the group "system").

Indeed the problem was caused by System - SEF
Can it cause any problem that it was turned off?

Hi,

The main function of that plugin is precisely to add canonical URL meta tags to your pages.
However, it does so by only using the current URL of the page.
Which defeats the purpose of the canonical meta tag since it's role is to point to the main URL of a page if you can access it from different URLs (which is the case for any page of a Joomla website).
So the way the plugin is done, I don't understand why would you need to enable it as it will harm your SEO more than anything else, but maybe I'm missing something about it ?

And I don't see any link with the display of images on your shop and this plugin. I would need more information about that issue to be able to help.

Hello Nicolas,

I have turned off mistakenly the System SEF ( search engine friendly plugin ) not SEO plugin.
Now I have turned off the ITP meta but problem come from other .
Only Hikashop product/category pages have duplicate canonical url and articles have only 1 tag.
This is why I think that duplicates come from other place to code.
I have turned off almost all extension. I do not find the problem.

Hi,

I'm not sure what you mean. I was talking about the "system SEF" plugin. That's the one creating that canonical URL.
If you need a canonical URL meta tag for your Joomla article, I would recommend using another plugin to do that.
The system SEF plugin adds it on all the pages and you can't tell it to not add it for HikaShop pages.
But as I said, even for Joomla articles, the way that plugin works, I wouldn't recommend using it.

I have turned it off .
Articles now do not have image because image is searched on article category url base not on
joomle base.

I should cut this from urls:
cikkek/termeszet-aldasa-cikkei/

Results should be this:
hungarianflavours.com/images/magas_zsirt...u_kokuszreszelek.jpg

How can I do it?
Categories' and Products' image are good.

First problem was solved with an / character database insert.

Now my product listing is not seen .
I have installed the Custom Canonical Plugin and I chose
remove category canonical.
Every Hikashop products and categories have canonical url but
products can not be seen.
Where can I find the problem?

Hi,

First, disable that plugin. Are the product URLs working after that ?
If not, then it means it's not related to this plugin (and I think it isn't).
I checked your website and I would say the issue is either coming from a template override (so check what you get on the products listings with the default template of Joomla. If it works fine with it, then it would confirm that it comes from a template view override), or the settings of your shop menu item (we would need a screenshot of the settings under the "products options" tab of your menu item to check them).

I have cleared now the menu canonical links and nothing happened .
