Hi

I assume it's me who has made something wrong, but please guide me to the right way of using filters.

I have made this filter and assigned it to a module.

But when I do a search on new.stanleyseeds.dk/drenge/bukser for "jeans" (boys clothes)

The result shows 3 girls items and links to the this page:
new.stanleyseeds.dk/piger

Kind regards
Thomas

Hi,

There is a problem with the "apply on" option. There should be no "all" choice in it.
You need to specifically select the columns on which you want the filter to apply.

Also, in the settings of your filter module, you'll find a "menu" setting.
There, you need to enter the id of a menu item configured to display a listing of all your products.

Looking at what's happening on your website, either you entered the id of the piger menu item or you didn't enter anything and thus HikaShop tried to use one automatically for you.

Hi

I managed to get the right menu now, thanks, but the filter won't do what I want :-)
I have set it to apply on product_keywords and added some keywords to a few products, but they don't show up when I serch for them.
I was thinking of using keywords as a type of tags ...

Or should I use Categories for that? In that case, can I filter on categories?

Hi,

Are you sure that the menu item you used in the menu setting displays by default the products that you're searching for ?
Because otherwise, it's normal that the filter doesn't display these products. The goal of the filters is to remove products from the list of products. But if the products are not in that list in the first place, then they won't appear in the results of the filtering.

I don't think categories will help you there.

Hi

Pretty sure ...
This item new.stanleyseeds.dk/drenge/t-shirts/p/t-shirt-2210102-brun is in the category DRENGE
I searched for thrane (entered as keyword), but nothing shows up.

The filter is set to Category DRENGE and subcategories.

Hello,

From your configuration I better understand the situation, you have 2 possibilities :
1. You want a search by product name, then the filter type text is most relevant
2. For search per categories then single (or Multiple) dropdown

For each case, I have create a filter in your backend AND associated each of the filter to your filter module in order to allow you to process some tests and better understand the filter use.

And as it seems that you want have filter only in Drenge parent category then maybe the most relevant is display this module only when your are in the Drenge category item menu.

I didn't save this parameter (like previous filters configuration) in order to don't disorient you, and so as previous, the filter module is displayed everywhere.

Hope this will help you to achieved what you need.
Regards

Thank you!
I have tested your setup, but nothing appears even if I do a search for "t-shirt"?

Can a filter apply on both the product name and a custom field (text)

Hi,

As I said before, in the "menu" setting of your HikaShopb filter module, you need to configure the id of a menu item configured to display all your products.
So the first thing is to create a menu item which displays all the products of the shop when you access it.
I've done it for you with the "shop" menu item.
Then, I used its id in the "menu" setting of the module and now the filter module on the right side is working as expected.
Regarding the filters at the top of the products listing, they will only filter among the products already displayed on the current listing.
If you don't want them, you can turn off the "filters" display setting under the "products options" tab of the menu item.
