Main option description not updating

My products have options, such as size.

If I open a product and in the tab "Product" there I edit the description and save, my changes are visible for all product options but not for the option that is set as default option.

Example:
I have a shoe with sizes 5, 6, 7, 8. 9. 10 and 11.
Size 7 is set as default option.
In backend I open the product and edit the description in tap "Product".
After in the frontend if I open the product it loads size 7 but still the previous description is shown. If I select any other size, then my changed description is shown.

Why are my changes not saved to main option? How can I change this?
