Alma

This plugin adds Alma to your HikaShop store, so your customers can pay in several installments or pay later while you are paid up front. The payment plans available for the cart are asked to Alma live and displayed directly on the checkout, with their cost, so the customer knows what they are choosing before they commit.

Payment Plans
  • Choose which numbers of installments you offer, from 1 to 12 and 24.
  • The plans really available for the amount of the cart are asked to Alma at the checkout, so a customer is never offered a plan Alma would refuse.
  • When several plans are available, the customer picks one from a dropdown. When only one is available, it is displayed as a simple sentence with no extra click.
  • Each plan is displayed with its number of installments, its total cost, the fees included and the annual interest rate.
Checkout and Payment
  • The customer is redirected to Alma to accept the plan, and comes back to your store when it is done.
  • The billing and delivery addresses of the order are sent to Alma, which speeds up the acceptance of the plan.
  • The content of the cart and the delivery chosen on the checkout are sent to Alma, as it asks of every merchant, which improves the acceptance of the plans.
  • The page displayed by Alma follows the language of the customer when it is one of English, French, Italian, Spanish, German or Dutch.
  • Your own cancellation and return URLs can be set on the payment method if you do not want the default HikaShop ones.
Order Follow Up
  • Alma notifies your store on each installment paid, and the order history keeps the amount of each one.
  • The order goes to the status you chose for a verified payment on the first installment, and to your completed status once every installment has been paid.
  • The customer is notified on the first installment only, so a payment in 12 installments does not send 12 emails.
  • Any unexpected payment state is written in the order history and the order goes to your invalid status, so nothing is silently lost.
  • The amount paid on Alma is compared with the total of the order and any difference is reported in the order history.
  • Each change of status of your order is reported to Alma, and so is the parcel once the order is shipped.
Technical
  • Talks to the Alma API directly, connecting with your own Alma account. No third party library is installed on your website.
  • Test and live modes, so you can run the whole flow on your Alma sandbox before going live.
  • A debug mode logs the exchanges with Alma in the HikaShop log file.
  • Several Alma payment methods can be created, for instance one per customer group or per country.
  • Available in English.
Installation
  • 1) Create your account on the Alma website and get your API keys from your Alma dashboard.
  • 2) Download the Alma plugin from our website.
  • 3) Install it on your Joomla or WordPress website.
  • 4) Go to HikaShop > Payment methods and create an Alma payment method.
  • 5) Enter your API key, choose the mode and select the numbers of installments you want to offer.
Configuration
  • API Key: the key of your Alma account, the test one or the live one depending on the mode.
  • Mode: Test or Live.
  • Number of installments offered: the plans you propose to your customers.
  • Cancel URL and Return URL: optional, to send the customer to your own pages instead of the default HikaShop ones.
  • Invalid status, Verified status and Completed status: the order statuses used for a refused payment, for the first installment received and for a fully paid plan.
  • Shipped status: the order status meaning the order has left your shop. Alma is told the order is on its way when an order reaches it.
  • Tracking number field: optional, the name of a custom order field holding the tracking number of the parcel. The tracking numbers stored by the shipping plugins of HikaShop are found without it.
  • Debug: logs the exchanges with Alma in the HikaShop log file.
Countries covered

Alma operates in several European countries, including France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Spain. Check the coverage on the Alma website for your own country. The plugin handles orders in euros.

Changelog

2.1.0 on the 9th of September 2026

  • The content of the cart is now sent to Alma with each payment: the products, their reference, their quantity, their price, their categories, their page and their image, and any fee added to the order such as gift wrapping. Alma asks every merchant for it, and it improves the acceptance of the payment plans.
  • The delivery chosen on the checkout is now sent to Alma with each payment, with its name, its price and its carrier.
  • The number of the order is now sent to Alma, along with the address of the order in your backend and the address of the order for your customer, so an order can be found on both sides.
  • Each change of status of an order is now reported to Alma, and the parcel is reported too once the order reaches the status you set as shipped. The tracking numbers stored by the shipping plugins of HikaShop are found on their own, and a custom order field can be named for the others.
  • New settings: the order status meaning the order has left your shop, and the name of a custom order field holding the tracking number.
  • The plugin now talks to the Alma API directly instead of going through the Alma PHP client, which it no longer ships. The download is 9 times smaller, and the plugin no longer depends on a library it only used for five calls.
  • Fixed the page your customer comes back to after paying, which could show nothing at all instead of thanking them. It now carries the reference HikaShop needs to recognise the customer, which a guest never had.
  • Fixed a deprecation notice which could appear during the checkout on PHP 8.5, coming from the Alma PHP client the plugin no longer uses.
  • The whole exchange with Alma was checked against the Alma sandbox, and a real order was placed on a test shop: the payment plans, the payment with its cart and its delivery, and the status of the order.

2.0.3 on the 26th of July 2026

  • Fixed the amount sent to Alma: the cents of the order total were dropped, so an order of 19.99 was charged 19.00. Please update, and check on your Alma dashboard whether earlier payments were taken for less than the order total.
  • Fixed the plan descriptions displayed on the checkout, which showed the cost of the credit as the total to pay and a negative amount of fees.
  • The cancellation and return URLs set on the payment method are now used, instead of always falling back to the default HikaShop ones.
  • The amount paid on Alma is now compared with the total of the order, and any difference is written in the order history.
  • The payment method is no longer displayed, instead of raising an error, when Alma answers the eligibility request with an error or when the cURL extension is missing.
  • Fixed the update notifications of the plugin, which never appeared because of a wrong update server address.
  • Removed the test files of the Alma PHP client from the package, which is 40% smaller.

2.0.2

  • Replaced the deprecated J-prefixed Joomla classes, for Joomla 6.

2.0.1

  • Fixed an error which could occur at the end of the checkout on PHP 8.

2.0.0

  • Updated the Alma PHP client to its latest version, adding the support of the latest PHP versions and fixing an incompatibility with Joomla 5 and its PSR log.

1.0.0

  • Initial release with the payment in several installments with Alma.
