Error message on cart

"The cart items combined volume is too big for all the possible shipping methods"

Customers get this message if they put an item in the cart before logging in. I am probably missing something simple but I cannot find a way to stop the message, or what is causing it. The products concerned do not have a 'volume' defined, only a weight, and the messages disappear as soon as the customer signs in.

I wonder if it something to do with the cart not knowing the shipping location until log in? We do have shipping methods defined for all countries though.

The site is blu-bay.co.uk - you have sign in rights already for this from when you developed the import facility for us. Any help or guidance will be appreciated.

I just tried to add a product in the cart on your website and I was redirected to the checkout. I have a shipping method displayed and no error message.

So maybe it only happens for some products ? Would you know a product for which you're having the problem ?

Could you do a screenshot of your manual shipping methods listing and tell us what zone you have in the option "main tax zone" in the configuration ?

I indeed got the error message for CDR.

Would you rather log in and have a look from the inside? I still have your admin set up from the development stage. Or I can mail you a new log in.

The product "Memorex CDR80 52X Printable - 100 pack" on your website has a weight of 1.750Kg and a volume of 0 and your "main tax zone" is Europe.

There is no shipping method configured for products with a weight below 2Kg and a volume inferior to 1 for the Europe zone so the system displays this error message as expected.

Now I feel really stupid! I have spent all morning looking at this - shows how a second pair of eyes will often see what is obvious. I think this must have been altered when additional delivery methods by post were introduced for some light weight products which we distinguish by adding a volume figure to the product.
Many thanks Nicoas - I will fix this now.
As usual - fantastic service - and on a Sunday!
Best regards
Chris

I have a similar problem, but the above solution doesn't do the trick.
Even though logging in I still get the same problem, the volume is too big for any shipping method.
It seems to only pertain to one product though, I just cannot see what the difference is between the different products. The only difference is that there is a free download attached to it what i can tell, but that shouldn't affect anything, should it? My main tax zone is Sweden.

Here are some screenshots

That is fine.

But maybe it comes form your zone. For example, if you created an extra sweden zone and that you don't use the same one (the default one) everywhere, that could happen too. Could you check on that ?

I checked and it wasn't it. But I tried creating a new product and entering the same specs again, and now it works B)

But I have another related problem: I dont understand the measuring of the max volume for manual shipping method. For example, there is the above book that has the measurements 26*14*1 cm. When specifying shipping method it is in cm, not in cubed cm, so one should think 26+14+1=41cm?

I tried specifying the max volume to be 200cm, and tried ordering 3 books (3*41=123), but the shipping method was then not listed. What am I doing wrong?

No, the max volume is in cm^3 in the shipping methods options. It's a volume so it can't be the addition of the dimensions. It's just that there is no clear notation for that so we left it with "cm" only.

You should put 1100 in that field if you want the shipping method to be displayed with three items of that product.
