Linking from image

Hi,
I've got 4 button images and I want to link to their respective categories.
I tried putting temporary menu items in my Joomla menu and copied the path and used that for the buttons but when I deleted the temp menu items, I lost the link from the buttons.
Could someone tell me how this done please.

Your solution is pretty ok, try to create the menu items and then instead of deleting the temp menus, move them in an hidden menu. By this way, the links should be still ok.
