I need to be able to add a comment box at the cart stage to allow a greeting to be sent with products to be sent as gifts, is this possible?

Hi,

Yes.

It can be made using "order custom fields".
You can check our demo website, we set an example of order custom field that are display during the checkout.

To display the custom fields in your checkout, you have to add the step "fields" in your checkout workflow.
Thanks to HikaShop business, you can create custom fields for the type "order" in your backend : Display > custom fields.
