Dropdown box

-- HikaShop version -- : 2.2.1
-- Joomla version -- : 2.5.14
-- PHP version -- : 5.3.3

When a customer selects "Add to cart" WITHOUT selecting an option in the dropdown (Select a button), the following checkout page gives an error as per the image below.


Firstly, where do I edit what appears here as it makes zero sense.

Secondly, and vastly more importantly, although a selection from the dropdown should have been made, the item is added to the cart, but there is no way to now select an item. If the customer goes back and redoes the purchase they now have 2 of the item in their cart - one w/out the dropdown selection and one with. Is there any way to stop the process of movign to the checkout page if nothing is selected, or still show the dropdown on the checkout page?

Not being able to move forward (like a required field in an ordinary form) if a dropdown doesn't have a value should be part of the whole shop setup surely?

It's probably that you turned off the option "display add to cart button for free product" and thus the system doesn't allow you to add to the cart options without prices.

Ahhh good - turning that on stopped the message. However, is there any way to make that field required so a person MUST select an item from that dropdown (just like an ordinary form does with a required field)? This would seem to be an extremely helpful feature in any situation like this.

Hi,

It is a product option. It means that it is an extra product added in the cart and attached to the current product.
It is not possible to render this field required and like that, I don't know how we can do it in the HikaShop core.
By removing the "---select---" you will avoid the problem but I think that it is not a good solution for you.

The only thing I see is to modify the product page in order to add some javascript when the "add to cart" button is pressed and refuse it if no button is selected in the dropdown.
It is some custom development which can be integrated directly in the product view (so no hack, no possibility to loose the customization with updates).
