I turned on the feature that a customer has to accept terms at checkout and in addition I created a new checkbox for a new set of terms (which is still in progress)
I noticed that in the checkout page the alert pops up as a modal window,. but on Chrome,FF and IE this modal window looks terrible.
In fact, there are 3 modal windows overlaying each other and all 3 would look bad on their own.
I know where to go to change the code that creates the modal window, but I am very confused by several similar posts on this forum where on one hand the mods suggest editing the "Checkout View" under Display >>>> Views, but in other posts there are warning that if you do that you have to pretty much recreate the code each time Hikashop is updated.
This would seem silly to me as I have considered the "View" to be essentially an override system that should not be affected by a new version.
What is the story?? Can I edit the checkout view without fear of losing everything in the next update?
Why would a page generate 3 modal windows above one another? Even if I managed to make them look prettier, it would still be cumbersome. Why not simply display all 3 warnings in the same modal window or just someplace in the checkout page.
Anyway, thank you for any help you can provide, especially in regard to the views being written over.
Here is a screenshot of the modal windows:
