Empty cart bar showing on home page

I have installed Hika shop. In my last install onto rubysfatcowfund.co.uk I didn't have a message bar showing anywhere. I have set up raysicecream in the same way but I have a message bar showing on the home page. I can't see anywhere to turn it off. I don't want the bars showing on my pages if the cart is empty..
Also, I had a problem with a button showing saying 'add new' address which when clicked didn't go anywhere. I have removed address from the work flow and it's going to paypal but im not sure if is the right thing to do. This didn't happen on my last site. Not sure what is different. using the same free version.

I think that you'll find your answer through this thread :

Yes it is. As explained in the post above, that is a possibility provided by the Advanced Module Manger extension, so you need it to activate that possibility. Also, you need to override the language file of hikashop to replace the "Cart is empty" message with an empty string.

Where do I find Advanced Module Manger extension? Do I need to install it separately? I had a look and I can't see anything with that name (and Im not sure how to configure it)
