This problem seems to have happened to both of my customer's sites, their live site and a test account that I've set up that is pretty much an exact duplicate of their live site.
Whenever someone tries to checkout they are taken to the first step in the checkout progression where they have to either create an account or login. This is where they are running into the 500 Internal Server Error. They can't create an account or login. I've looked over the forums, and it would appear that there are a few other people having the same issues and you have requested a PHP error log, but I've looked in the PHP error log on both sites and I don't see anything in there as a result of this. I've turned on the debugging and that doesn't turn up anything either, the error message is a http 500 Internal Server Error, so at that point, no PHP displaying. After this started being noticed by my customer, I began by making sure the sites were updated with the newest Joomla and Hikashop. I don't have any trouble logging into the front end of the site unless I'm in the checkout process. As a matter of fact, if I navigate away from the checkout page, log into the front end of the site, and then try to "proceed to checkout", it gives me the 500 Internal Server Error. This is quite a critical issue as my customer is no long able to take orders on their website.
