message "cart is empty" while cart has products

While trying to checkout, Hikashop shows message "The cart is empty" while the cart has products in it.
in the above situation, products can not be deleted, also cannot be added to the cart.

That's probably coming from a cache issue, can you disable the Joomla cache, and clear it ? You'll also have to disable it in the joomla config, and unpublish the cache plugin. Also can you clear your browser's cache or try it with another browser ?

This happens in the idle time. Like I added a product in the cart and idle for some time(no activity in the site). After some time, when I try to checkout it shows the message.

I have the same situation, but only with WebKit based browsers. If I add something to the cart then navigate to the Home page, cart displays the Cart is empty message, but if I add something to it then I have all the products in the cart. On the Home page we have the empty message. We hade tried with Hikashop 2.1 and 2.2.2 Business but it's the same. Cache is disabled, but it's the same with enabled, doesn't matter. What could be wrong?

Are you sure that you don't have any cache, like the system cache plugin, or some cache in the template, etc ?

I just tried on Chrome which is a webkit browser, and I don't had the problem. The cart was always displaying that I had one item in it.

No it doesn't work on other browsers. It was my mistake. I also found out that I had the system cache plugin enabled, even if the cache in the global configuration wasn't set. I have tried all the suggestions regarding using other cache solutions for Joomla, but unfortunately none of them works with my site. Everything is fine until one navigates to the home page where the cart displays the empty cart message. Other then this, is working fine with Joomla 3.2 and Hikashop 2.2.2 Business. I'm still looking for solutions, as the site is much faster with cache than without.
