Hi there,

i have a problem with the Checkout when the registration is disabled. The Customer on the checkout has to enter an email adress and his adress information. Thats ok but if he enters an email-adress which is used by an account on the website the checkout form can not be continued. If you proceed the page reloads but with the same page for the adress information and an empty email field. The big problem is that there is no error message displayed so that a customer would know that. Is there any solution?

(the shop on the page is currently hidden because we dont want people to see it yet, i know that this is hard to debug right now...)

Hi,
Note if you want to have a checkout without registration, you'll probably find your answer through this thread :

If you want to enable your customer to checkout without registering, you'll just have to
- Go to "Hikashop->System->Configuration->Checkout"
- Set the "Display method for registration" option to All in one page
- Set the "Registration" option to Guest

Note that the Registration / Display method for registration options are only available through an Hikashop commercial version, so YES you'll have to use a commercial version to do that :).

Thanks for the answer, but that is exact the settings i have in my shop. The only problem is that if a guest has an account on the page but uses the same mail adress for the checkout as guest the checkout is stuck but there is no message displayed that the mail is already in use or something

Hi there,

I just tried and there is an error message which is diplayed:
Error
Email address already used

Are you sure your template is not hiding the div displaying messages?

Hi Eliot, thanks for the reply. Can you tell me where the div with the message is located on the page and which class or id it uses?

Check the following classes:
system-message-container
system-message
alert

More easily you can use click right>Inspect element in your browser to see if the element is hidden.

I know how to inspect elements :-)

Anyway, there is no div with these classes or any other similar. I also searched the page for the string of the error message and reinstalled hikashop but i cant get it to work. The Console shows no errors, is there maybe a plugin deactivated?

Where is the message located on your page? is it a popup or just a text? and is it right under the input field for the mail adress or at the bottom of the page?

ok so now i found the system-message div, it is inside a modal popup which i use for the login to the page. It is there but it is empty, inside the system-message should be a div alert but its not there...

So it seems that it's not a template issue. But I can't reproduce the issue on a local website.
Do you have the very last version of Hikashop? When did you installed it first?
Do you have any customization on Hikashop file (views or core files)?

well i fount out what was going on, the system-message was hiding inside a modal box that i use to login to the page. When you try to use an email adress which is connected to an account the page reloads and when you click in to the login button, the modal popup opens and there it was!

Anyways,

thank you!!!
