Sending email following "abandon cart" behavior

I was wondering if there is a way or if it is already implemented to send emails to customers that abandon their cart. What I mean if there is a way to send emails automatically given certain parameters.

A case in point may be someone checking out with Paypal but abandoning the process before paying.

Naturally, I understand that we can only do that once someone has either logged in or at least gave us their email.

Hi,

You can use the integration between AcyMailing and HikaShop for that.
In AcyMailing, create a new filter based on the order status and on the order date to create an emailing.

Thank you for the reply. I have never built a filter, but I assume there are tutorials I can follow.

You can find the documentation of AcyMailing on that here:

I am sorry to open this issue up again, but I have read the ACY mailing documentation and the link you provided, but it seems to me that the whole thing is a lot more involved than just creating a filter.

I found this post: www.acyba.com/forum/5-acymailing-how-to/...-does-it-happen.html on the acy forums and by reading it seems that the way hikashop saves the email of customers is in a way where pre-set filters won't work and a custom query is necessary

I have also found several other requests for this filter/ alert and all of them refer to the same tutorial that doesn't seem to be very helpdful as it assume the query is already set.

It would be really nice if there was a tutorial specific to this filter rather than referring people to the common tutorial. It doesn't seem to be a really hard thing to do, but it seems silly to me that each one of us has to reinvent the wheel each time.

One simple forum post with the complete tutorial would be wonderful. Any chance that can be done? Does anyone know if anyone has been able to build this filter and make it work?

Hi,

Your question was about sending a reminder for someone checking out with Paypal but abandoning the process before paying.
This means that the order has already been created (at the end of the checkout) but not confirmed (no payment made).
This function can easily be done with the "hikashop reminder" filter that adrien talks about in his first message on the thread you give in your message.
There is no need for a tutorial for that. Just create a new filter, select the "HikaShop reminder" filter, enter the number of days for the reminder, select the action "add an email to the queue" and select the AcyMailing email that you want to send to the user as a reminder of his unfinished order, and save the filter as an auto-filter.

What the thread of your link was about is a way to have the same capability for carts (when the order is not yet created but the user already registered and logged in with a HikaShop cart). We didn't implement such capability yet and thus would require the use of the universal plugin with a complex query to make it work. But reading your request, that's not what you asked for.

Hi,

Note that after talking with the AcyMailing team about that, they wrote an article on their website explaining how to setup that reminder:

Thank you for the tutorial. I guess I didn't realize at the time I first posted of the various ramifications oif asking the question.

Someone on my team simply asked me if our shop allowed for "abandoned cart notifications" and that's what I asked. I didn't think it would make a difference what method of payment we used.

The way I understood it was that a user fills the cart, register (or there is no email to send a reminder to) and then bails out of the process regardless of choosing Paypal or Credit card to pay (we have both Authorize.net and Paypal as payment methods).

In my OP I used PP as an example, but in hindsight I should have expanded on it so as not to limit my question. Then again, I was simply not aware of all the different ways this thing could work.

Luckily, between you latest response and the one I got at ACYmailing's forum,. I may be able to put something together.

Thank you for the clarification.

Thank you. That was really helpful.
One small problem: I wasn't able to save my filter and it looks like I can only "process" it.

In the top buttons the choices are:

View Users | Process | Close | help

I clicked on help and in their help system the screenshot of the same screen has instead these buttons:

Process | save | Close | help

Is it because I am still using the Free version of ACY mailing? Do I need to upgrade?

EDIT: I asked the Google and indeed I need the enterprise edition.

I am going to buy it now.

I'm trying to set this up now, but it seems flawed to me. What I see occasionally is that people will often begin a purchase with one payment method, then complete it with a different payment method.
On my back end it looks like two orders. One is left in 'created' status and another in 'confirmed' status.
How do I filter those people out so that I only send abandonment emails to people who created an order but never purchased?

I asked Acyba about this but they said it was your plugin.

1. Why is the reminder filter limited to days? When you create a HikaShop Reminder filter, it has a box for Creted X days ago and not paid yet. A day is too long in many cases. Why can't this be hours? Is there a way to change that?

2. I'm assuming that the trigger for this is order status = created. But I would also like to include status = cancelled.

Thanks

Hi,

1. This could be hours, it require to edit the plugin for that. We had days, because it's the most used value. I don't remember that we had a request to have hours for the reminder ;) But the solution given by Tom of the Acyba team seems to be a good solution, and avoid any code edition.

2. In the settings the trigger is not an order status, but a date. The order status is in the filter.
So you can create many actions, one with the order = created and another one with the status cancelled.
