Hi,
we just got SSL for this website, and I thought that I should enable Froce SSL on checkout of hikashop.
The problem is, that when I choose YES to enable it and click on Save, I get Forbidden error:

You don't have permission to access /administrator/index.php on this server.

Does it have to do with file permissions? How do I enable it?
And what does having ssl enabled mean for the site?
I mean if I visit the site with https:// it show the lock etc and the site works, (previously showed untrasted), but when I visit the site with simple http:// the lock does not show.

Any info is appreciated.
thanks

Hi,

That's an error which happens because of the server configuration which forbids the saving of the configuration as it has too many parameters, or too big data sent.
It's similar to this one:
www.hikashop.com/forum/3-bug-report/8015...g-configuration.html
We've actually modified the configuration screen to avoid the problem since then but you have an old version of HikaShop without the necessary modifications.
I would recommend to either update HikaShop (make sure you test on a copy of the website before as this is a big update for your version), or see with your hosting company if they can do something with their server configuration to avoid that (it is usually a security module of PHP which is blocking the request).

Hi, thanks for your reply.
I have enabled SSL on the entire site from the joomla configuration. Will this also take affect in the hokashop checkout process? So that it doesn't have to be enabled within Hikashop configuration?

Hi, getting the same error when editing the Hikashop configuration.
Is there a way to download a file via ftp, edit setting like the "Continue shopping button's URL",
and upload the file again?

thanks

Hi,

If you force the SSL for the whole website via Joomla, it will also work for the checkout yes.

Yes, that's normal that you can't edit anything in the configuration page with that error. The error is not linked to the SSL setting.
What you can do is edit the settings in the table hikashop_config of your database via your phpmyadmin.

Thanks for your help. That helped. I even edited the force SSL to Yes.

Now I noticed that I get a warning on the lock as soon as I add an item to the basket, and all the way to the completion of the order. Everywhere else the SSL works fine.
What can I check for that? Why does adding an item to the basket give me that warning?

Hi,

Could you give us the full message of the returned warning ?

Well the message is in Greek as we have Greek windows.
In firefox it says something like (translating here) connection to the page is not safe as it contains not encrypted data like images.
The entire site which does have images does not show this error. Once you place an item in the cart and throughout a purchase it comes up with this warning.
I will try removing the cart image and see if that helps

Removing that cart image I think fixes the problem.
What's a better way to add a cart image, cause this was hardcoded into the language files (<img src='/images/cart.png'/><br />).
