How can I customize the style of my checkout page?

I want to change the font size of the word "Guest" on my check out page, as well as changing the size/placement of the EMail and Email Confirmation labels. Also would like to use my own graphic buttons for submit, and on the Cart is Empty message, change the background and border colors. I am somewhat new to all of this, and if you can give me a few hints I would really appreciate it.
