Guest checkout for downloadable products

Would like to allow for only name and email for those site visitors paying for downloadable products.
Are we able to make all other fields optional?

Our goal is to allow for customers to checkout as "Guest" when purchasing downloadable products >> Mp3 files and PDF files.

We only want to require name, username and email address.

By default there is all the fields asked because for the bills it's required.
But you can remove these fields or make them optional thanks to the interface in Display > Custom fields.

Here you can disable the "required" option or unpublish the custom fields.

But can a 'guest' checkout process work with downloadable products? I'm setting up a new shop offering a mix of physical and downloadable products, and the customer wants to offer guest checkout. I can't see how that can be done, because it's necessary for the customer to log in to download the files. Or have I got that wrong?
