-- HikaShop version -- : 6.1.1
-- Joomla version -- : 6.0.0
-- PHP version -- : 8.4

Hello,

I upgraded from version 5.0.0 to 6.1.1. Now I can no longer connect to PayPal. When I click “Connect,” I get the PayPal message “This page does not exist.” When I enter the client ID and client secret, including the merchant ID, the connection to PayPal is rejected at checkout.
What is the problem?

best regards
langi

Hi,

For the connect not working, I'm not sure, however, for the checkout, I tested it working fine just before the release.
What message do you have on the backend below the "connect" button. It should display a green message if the credentials are correct, and if not it should display a red error message. Do you see that ?
On the frontend, the issue could be linked to a javascript error. It's hard to say exactly what the problem is without being able to look into it. We would need a screenshot of the settings of the payment method (please remove the credentials from it), and the URL of the shop to be able to reproduce the issue and analyze it.
Could you provide that ?

Hi

Thank you very much for your feedback.
Shortly before release, the checkout functioned perfectly. After upgrading to 6.1.1 (which caused the connection to PayPal to fail), I installed a backup from the previous day. The connection to PayPal worked perfectly again.
With 6.1.1:
After restarting, the “client ID” and “client secret” are entered. When you want to complete the purchase, the selection page appears. If you select “PayPal” for example, the login page opens briefly. Then the message “The payment request was refused by PayPal. Please click here to return to the checkout” appears.
When I try to connect with “connect” in the backend, the PayPal page appears. After entering the code, the message “This page does not exist” appears.
When I enter “client ID” and “client secret” and “Merchant ID” and save, the message “Client Authentication failed” appears.
The page is currently offline.

Hi,

The message “Client Authentication failed” normally indicates that either the “client ID”, “client secret” or “Merchant ID” are incorrect.
It could just be a copy / paste issue. For example, if you have an extra space at the end of either fields it could lead to that problem.
So, please double check what you have there.
Between the 6.1.0 and the 6.1.1 we released a few days ago, we didn't change anything to the client authentication process, and the client authentication process worked fine in the 6.1.0 for everyone. And I confirm it still works fine on our test server with the 6.1.1.
So it's likely the problem comes from the information provided in these fields, or the "sandbox" setting should be activated if you're using sandbox credentials for the “client ID”, “client secret” and “Merchant ID” fields.
