This post is going to supersede the posting from yesterday as I was able to figure out most of my issues. The problem I am having now I wasn't able to solve in over 5 hours of trial and error so I have no choice but to post again.

The issue I am having is twofold, but the most immediate has to do with the Title in the category pages spawned from a category list module.

On this page: www.dadshotsauce.net I have a joomla article and a Category list module.
WHen I click on one of the sub-categories the page that shows up has no title at all. I am able to style that page, display the description or not, change the number of columns, etc. so I know I am acting upon the right area in the administration, but I am unable to show a page title with the name of the category.

Incidentally, I have a similar page: www.dadshotsauce.net/index.php?option=co...t=listing&Itemid=101 with a similar list. However, here, if one follows the same procedure, it is a straight link from the menu to a hika content module, so the title is probably inserted by the menu settings.

Previously, I had the home page setup identically to the link above, however, even after comparing each menu and module side by side I was having the same issue: The home page list of categories either didn't show any title or it would show the same title as in the home page in the subcategories (EX: Home page title was "Product categories". After clicking on "Jalapeño" category, title would still read "Product categories" instead of "Jalapeño" or the other categories titles.

Incidentally, I changed the way I built the home page because the Intro text for the page wasn't working well with the way Hikashop displays category descriptions. Having a description on the topmost category would make the same message display on the shopping cart and other places, where it looked silly.QUestion: Why am I not able to simply switch the title of the jalapeño category on and off from the same place where I can choose to display or not the description of the category. A simple switch would have saved me hours today.

I have tired to associate the module title to the link, but there is no link where this worked. The module controls the display for several categories, so I could not link it to the "jalapeño": category link and it didn't work anyway.

Multiple content pages

Regardless of the title displaying or not, I now have at least 3 pages for each product category. These links all go to the same category, but the all have different link structures. I am sure I'll be able to do something with some SEO component, but I should be able to simply assign a menu link to a category and have it always go to the same "view" Unless I espressely choose to have different views for the same category.

Links to "Jalapeño" category:

1) From home page: www.dadshotsauce.net/index.php?option=co...eno-sauce&Itemid=215

2) From "Category PAge": www.dadshotsauce.net/index.php?option=co...eno-sauce&Itemid=101

3) From Main Menu Link: www.dadshotsauce.net/index.php?option=co...t=listing&Itemid=152

Ideally, each category should have a way to redirect to a single link if one so wishes.

Anyway, my goal at the moment is to be able to display a title in a category page as explained above. After that, I'll be able to start testing the cart. Hopefully, things will go smoothly there.

Here are a couple of screenshots where I try to explain a bit better. If necessary, I'll be glad to make a short video.

Hi,

Page heading
Please edit your Joomla menu with ID 215 and set the option "Show Page Heading" to yes in the "Page Display Options".
Note that a "page title" means the title which is display in the browser title. You are talking about "Page heading".

You can access easily to your Joomla menu 215 in HikaShop.
Menu : Display > content menu.
Select your category listing (with ID 215). You will see a button in the toolbar to edit the Joomla menu.

Multiple content page
Once again, it is more a Joomla generic problem than an HikaShop one.
Each link have a different "ItemId", which means, a different menu. The Joomla way is to have specific configuration of modules per menu.
We added in HikaShop an option for modules which allow you to select a menu. This menu is used for links, it will set automatically the "ItemId" of the selected menu to create unified links. If you don't select a menu, it will keep the current menu.

After that, for SEO optimization, we have options for products to set the "Canonical URL". So the web search engines will just reference one single link for a product page and not the different menus possibilities.

Thank you very much for the replay and the clarification.

For the benefit of anyone reading this post after having the same issue, I want to add that after I went to my Joomla menu ID 215 and turned on the "Display Heading" switch, the pages started displaying a title (or Heading, as you correctly point out), but that title siad, for each and every category I clicked on,:

Menu item for category listing module 99

Instead of the category name. I had to go to the module in question and turn off:
Use menu name instead of category name for the title

Previously, my problem was similar. Instead of displaying the category name, it displayed the same Page heading visible in the home page. In other words, it inherited the title from the home page. If I turned off the "Display header" then no title was visible.
So if the Home page heading was
Welcome to my site
The category name for every single category was still
"Welcome to my site" Instead of "Category Name".
And in addition it displayed the category description on all child pages.
Because of that and other things, I changed the structure of the home page to the way it is now, but I never saw that new module you pointed out, otherwise, I am very familiar with the Page header switch, it simply did not work before for me.

Thank you for leading me to the solution.

In regard to the duplicate pages, if I understand correctly, if I use a Hikashop module to list the categories, than that problem goes away. Since I am using a megamenu, I could simply insert a module where now I have a list of links to each category., Am I correct?

Thank you again.

Avoiding duplicate pages can be quite tricky with the way joomla is done.
If you have only one main category listing menu item, and that in your category listing module(s) you select that menu item in the "menu" option of the module, you should normally not have duplicate pages.
but then, if you have products listing modules, you will have the issue as the links between a product accessed directly and a product accessed via a category will be different so that the breadcrumb reflect that difference.
So setting up the canonical URLs as Jerome said is a good way to make sure that your SEO is not penalized by duplicate content flag in search engines and what I would still recommend.
