G'day,

I noticed that for customizations, you go through Display -> View et c

What I am wondering is if we can create custom 'View' pages?
If yes, how do we go about it? I.E Where do we make it, then how do we get it to display on the Front End?

The reason for the above, is because I want to make a "front page" so to speak for our store where I can have multiple modules in a line;
For example; Featured Items, Best Selling et c

Hi,

You can but I won't work in your case.
Creating a view is just creating a view. You have to include the view somewhere, which means, having a controller and a task which call the view content.
So I will recommend you a Joomla article with modules. You can use the joomla extension/plugin "module anywhere" if you want.

Thanks for the reply,

How about being able to custom the actual "view".
For example, the show_img_block (iirc) is setup in a way to output in a certain format.
Can I duplicate that but have it reference my custom file?
That way I can have both view options depending on which page I want to load?

Hi,

You can add check in the view in order to have different output depending the context.
You can also create a copy of the view while editing the "show_img_block". You will see an input text which allow you to change his name. It's the copy feature.

After that you will be able to select your new view and use it.

Ok, made the duplicate file ok... I guess the check is for other than Starter versions.

Was hoping to customize as much as I could before upping to Business.
I guess I have gone as far as I can.

Now another question that is unrelated to the topic;
When I upgrade to Business, is it a simple Upgrade thing that won't clear my customizations?
If not, can I copy XYZ files to the current install to get Business options without overwriting my custom files?

Hi,

To upgrade to business, you only have to install the package over your current installation using the joomla extensions installer.
You will not loose your customizations if you made them via the menu Display > Views of HikaShop or made the override in the folder "templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/html/com_hikashop"
