SOLVED Single column default prodict list layout?

In order to create differentiation between my category list and product list pages I'm trying to get my default category list in 3-column div (which is the default layout) and my default product listing page to layout in a single "table"-based column... which I cannot do.

I have achieved this when you click the main "products listing" link in the header, but I cannot achieve it when using the side bar accordion menu. This side bar menu is created on the fly by the Hikashop categories module.

Can you point me in the right direction please?

It's always the way isn't it... you spend an hour trying to figure it out and the moment you ask for help you get it sorted! I'm fairly sure I've fallen foul of exactly this situation before.
