Characteristics Help

I have looked on the Forums for help with this but I'm stuck!

I have had my HikaShop for nearly a year, and at the beginning the first characteristics I created were for my main product. Recently, we have stopped selling a particular variant of this characteristic, so I went into the Characteristics and deleted the two items that are no longer available, but kept the other 5 options. I thought this would just delete them, but now I have a warning on the top of all my products which reads 'The default value of one of the characteristics of that product isn't available as a variant. Please check the characteristics and variants of that product'.

I have noticed that at the end of my URLs it has added popup=1, which wasn't there before!

Is there a way I can stop this message showing? Or another way of sorting this problem? I really don't want to re-do all the characteristics and prices of my products, I have over 1000 online.

Hi,

The default value of one of the characteristics of that product isn't available as a variant. Please check the characteristics and variants of that product

You have to change the default values of the characteristics on your main product edition page.
In HikaShop > Products, click on the product which have these variants, and in the characterisitcs part, just select another value in the characteristics.

Hi,

You can remove that message by editing the file "components/com_hikashop/views/product/view.html.php" function "addCharacteristics()".

Hi I am getting the same message after imported the products from a CSV.

"The default value of one of the characteristics of that product isn't available as a variant. Please check the characteristics and variants of that product"

I do have the characteristics columns correct. I just added some new values to that column.
Does it mean that I have to create each variant manually through the CMS?

Can't I just add the values to the products exported CSV and re-import?

Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing.

Lets say I have a characteristics column called "Color". If I add "Purple" to the CSV will a value "Purple" be created under the characteristic "Color"?

I just spent the last hour trying and no new value is added to that characteristic.

Can you please clarify if by adding NEW a value to the csv under the column "Color" will this new color be created as a characteristic value?

If not, does it mean that all the characteristics need to be created manually through the CMS?
