URL-ID not SEO friendly

Hi,

As I learn Hikashop I noticed that the product urls are not really seo friendly. See for example naturalsports.cloudaccess.net/component/...ium.html?Itemid=1070

Itemid-1070 does not help with google. Is there a function that allows seo friendly urls?

Thanks,

Martin

Hi,

Using a itemId which point to an HikaShop menu could help you to have nicer (and shorter) urls.

Thanks for the suggestion however could you elaborate on how to do this or point me to documentation on this? I am completely new to Hikashop so not really sure what you mean.

The itemid parameter correspond to the id of the current menu item.
Jerome means that you see the itemid there because the current menu item is not a hikashop products/category listing menu item and thus Joomla's SEF cannot convert it to the alias of the menu.
You would have to configure the thing that generate that URL (a module ? a search plugin ? etc) so that its "menu" or "itemid" option is set to a menu item of the type hikashop products/category listing, and then the URL will be nice like you want.

Wow - this seems complicated. Are you aware of any documents that shows how to do this? Or is there a better approach to what I have done to avoid the itemid issue?

Hi,

I will recommend you to create an HikaShop product listing module.

Just tried to follow your instruction booklet however was unsuccessful. The menu didn't show up in my site.

Is there any possible way you can give more details on how to setup the itemid etc? I purchased the HikaShop accordian menu and would like to stick with its use as the style fits nicely with my site design.

Sorry for the addition questions.

I also just noticed all my products are messed up now. I followed your exact instructions and it seems it has impacted other parts of my site.

1) All my category landing page display products with a grey box now - this was set find before
2) WHen I select the product, now I go to a blank page that displays a default graphic.

What has happened? How do I fix this?

It's easy actually. Actually it's not a problem related to HikaShop but to your accordion module.
In it you should have an option to specify the menu item of its links.
There, enter the "categories listing" menu item that is already created by HikaShop in the "hikashop default menus" of the joomla menu manager and that's it. The links of the accordion should now be better.

As the setting must be in your accordion module and that I don't know how the settings are there since we didn't develop that module, I can't give you a step by step more precise than what I said in my previous message.
You should contact the support of that accordion module for more details on how to set it up properly.
