Images not uploading

Hello, we are on the latest version of Hikashop. We are currently having trouble uploading images through the backend. We used to just go into the product detail page (backend), and click "Add" and then browse to the file on our local system, this would then upload the image to the correct folder on our website. What is now happening, is that it selects the file, but just shows a grey box instead of the image. We can get around it by going to our ftp and manually uploading the image and then using the "Select" option in the product detail page to select the image. What do you think could be preventing this from working as it should?

NOTE: The image is the same size/type as the previous ones that used to work.

Thanks

Hi,
Can you show me through some screenshots, how did you configured the options of the page "Hikashop->System->Configuration->Main".

Hi, attached is a screenshot of the config page. Seems to be ok to me. Also attached is a screenshot of what happens when we try to use the Product Detail page to add an image. (shown with the red arrow). It should be an image preview as per the image above it.

Thanks

Hi,

Try to turn off the "force size" option in the configuration and see if that helps.

Hi, I turned that option off but it is still doing it...

I see I have a customization in the "show_block_img" view, but can't remember what I changed in there, could something there affect it?

Thanks

Hi,

The customization of the show_block_img view file won't change the display of the preview in the backend as it is a frontend view file.
What's strange is that you get a grey colored box instead of the image thumbnail in the backend while you shouldn't get anything, or the default image, or a white background.
What image did you use for your example above ?
If you turn on the error reporting and debug mode options of the Joomla configuration and try again, do you get an error message ?

Hi, turned on debug and nothing shows up. One thing I have just realised though, is that the preview seems to be a part of the actual image, enlarged really big and cropped, almost like a couple of pixels have been selected out of the middle of the image I am trying to upload. Wierd.

For the example, I used the exact same image that is displayed above it on my screenshot, you can actually see from that that it has taken the grey from that image and enlarged it really big to create the preview.

Hi,

Ok, that's strange.
And do you have the same problem on the listing of the products ? Do you have the same problem on the product page of the product on the frontend ? Do you have the same problem after saving the product ? Or is it just after the upload ?

Hello, after we have uploaded the image and then check the product on the frontend, it shows the same effect that the product preview shows on the backend, just a small portion of the image. Yes, same problem after saving the product. In fact, once we have uploaded the image, if we then cancel the product changes, the image stays in place, we have to go back in to the product and click on the "trash can" icon next to the preview, then "Save and close" to get rid of it.

Would you like to log in to our backend to check some things out? If so, let me know the best way to give you the username and password.

Thanks
