-- url of the page with the problem -- : www.houseofcarmel.com/index.php/shop
-- HikaShop version -- : 2.3.2
-- Joomla version -- : 3.3.3

We just went live with our new site and are continuing to add products, however, this morning when I was browsing the front end of our site, none of the category links are going anywhere. The "shop" link is just going to the main category page and each of the categories when clicked are just staying on the same page.

Take a look and see...

Any input would be helpful!

Ok, we fixed it by turning off the "Search engine friendly URLs". What I now want to know is why that breaks our shop? Search engine friendly URLs are what we'd ultimately want for SEO...

Whenever we turn off the "Search engine friendly URLs" our hikashop stops working. We want that setting turned on. Can you provide a fix for that?

What you have set in Hikashop configuration for Features->SEF URL options->Force canonical URLs on listings ?

Hi
I seem to have a similar problem but some of my products are displaying and others aren't! I can't understand why some were but now aren't and some new ones are and some aren't... I have used Copy for some and of the three products added this evening, the original works but the copies don't....

Why would some work and some not?

The ones that don't work don't even go to the home page, but load a completely empty page...

The site is currently offline as it is under construction.

Please help!

The reason I were asking for this setting is that when you set "Force canonical URLs on listings" to "Use canonical URL and generate it if missing", canonical URL of product/category is generated at first page load, stored in database and Hikashop use this canonical URL instead of generating URL every time.
But if you later change name/alias of product/category, canonical URL becomes invalid and Joomla redirects to default menu Item.

Changing this setting to "No, generate the URLs" will fix this issue.

Hi,

@ourlady74 As @korzo pointed out, it could potentially come from the SEF settings of the HikaShop configuration on your website. We would indeed need a screenshot of these options, and that you provide some of the SEFed links that don't work when you activate the SEF.

@samstables From what you're describing, your problem is different. You must have some of your products without an alias and with special characters in their names or starting with a number, and the option "remove product and category ids from URLs" activated in the HikaShop configuration. Enter an alias without special characters and without a number at the beginning, or turn off the option "remove product and category ids from URLs" from the configuration and it should work.

I had the product/ category ids already on (i.e. turned off removing them) and none of my products start with a number and there are no special characters (only - which is autogenerated if there is a space or special character in the name) and all have aliases. The problem seems to be where I have copied a product that I hadn't noticed doesn't work, as completely new products work ok and some clones from other products seem to work out. I can redo the ones that don't work, which is just time but it's irritating that I don't know why some work and some don't when they appear the same to me!

Hi,

When you copy a product, the new product will have by default the same alias and the same canonical URL as the origin product. So it could be a problem as these should be unique to each product. So you should check on that.

There does seem to be some connection between the pages not coming up and any product with variations where you change something in some but not all variations... I seemed to have solved that issue but now can't get through my checkout without the same white page coming up! I guess I'd better take that problem into a different forum :)

Aha! in my config php file, the cache was set to 24m... so no wonder the pages weren't loading! Have set it to 256 and everything works fine :)
