A question about presentation of variants of products.
Working now with the free version Starter, and still only local.

1. I can choose to add several images to a product, that only differ in color. Then you see, in product-view, all the images as thumbnails. But I can not order one of that color-variants. I can only order the (standard) product.

2. I can choose to add characteristics. Then I see only one picture, but I can select the other variants. And - important - I can order one of the variants.

My question: can I combine these two presentations? So: thumbnails ánd productvariants to order. Maybe only in version Essential or Business?

Hi,

When you edit your product, you can order the images with the order column of the images listing area of the product.
Similarly, when you edit a variant via the "manage variants" button, you can do the same and change the order of the images of the variants.
And regarding the order of the variants themselves, you can edit your characteristics via the menu Products>Characteristics and change the order of each value there.

You can do that with any edition of HikaShop.

Oops, linguistic misunderstanding.
I meant ‘place an order’, or ‘bespeak’ (ordre en france), and not ‘sort’.

So, my question is still: can I combine two kinds of presentation of productvariants (based on variants ánd based on multiple images)?

Yes. You can add a characteristic to a product and each variant can have several images and when the user select a variant, the system will automatically change the images displayed on the product page.

Hi. I have a question about this as well. I have about 120 products in my store right now. Running HikaShop Business. I have characteristics and variants set up for most products. So, when visitors to my site look at individual product pages, they have an option of several colors to choose from the characteristic drop-down selector. When they pick a color, it loads the additional images as thumbnails under the main image. This is fine.

However, I need to display ALL thumbnails under the main image. So if a visitor comes to the site, they can choose from the color selector drop-down or click a thumbnail under the main image that will show that color AND change the text in the characteristic drop-down selector.

This is what my client desires. I have not been able to figure out how to allow users to select color choices from a drop-down characteristic selector AND thumbnails! I don't know if I am missing something or if this is just not possible with HikaShop.

The drop-down works correctly. It's just that it only shows the thumbnails for one particular color at a time. What I am trying to do is allow users to either select the color from the drop-down and by clicking on the thumbnail of the product/color. Is this possible?

Hi,

There is no option to do that.
It would require the customization of the "show_block_img" file of the view "product" via the menu Display>Views by a developer to display the images of the variants and have the charactersitic dropdown update based on the clicks on the images with custom javascript code.
It's not impossible, but you need strong developer skills or hire a developer to do that for you.

Hi Nicolas,

Thank you for your quick response. I figured that your answer may have been the case, but I wanted to confirm. I think it will be ok as it is currently anyways. I explained to my client that this current setup makes more sense and that showing ALL thumbnails along with characteristic selector doesn't really make sense.

Once again, thank you!

Best Regards
