display thumbnail name & missing description

Hello, I would like to show the name of the thumbnail images beneath them as in the attached picture. I've added a div for the title but it only shows under the main image. The thumbnails are generated from the main product page configuration. I've stopped the variant images from showing in the thumbnails so there wouldn't be duplicates.

Also I just noticed my product description is missing n products with variants... I see there was an old bug that was fixed a few years ago but Hikashop has been updated so I don't want to apply the old fix code.

I didn't know about the display by color. That's awesome! As far as adding the title to the image.. I have hundreds of images so it would take up too much time. It's not absolutely vital on most products though.

With the description I do have a full description in the main editing page of that product.. not just a space. I don't have any description in the variant (as far as I know). There's 51 variants which is why I want the description to come from the main product. Which table in the DB would show me if there's an errant space? (or what would be the quickest way to find it?) Another product with variants is also missing the description, but the products without them show the description. These products were all imported from OsCommerce via Virtuemart. The variants didn't come over though so I was in the process of adding them when I noticed this.

OK I looked closer at the variant edit page and there is a div with a space in it on all of them. So this is over-riding the original description. I just don't know where it came from. It was automatically created. Any ideas on how I can stop this behavior?

EDIT: I just figured out it was they I had the JCE editor configured. So this part is solved.
