-- HikaShop version -- : 2.3.4

Hello,

My server suffered a very nasty hack and I was unable to get a backup for one website that contains a lot of products with images. I have the database backup but the images sadly were missed being backed up by a couple of days (more frequent cron script from now on!) Anyway I need to upload all of the images again and want to do it in an exact replace via FTP I have all the original images and have done an auto resize to all images so they are now correct full size and thumbnail sizes and have lowercased all of the files automatically I just literally need to know where to upload them to VIA FTP if possible.

If there were not hundreds of images I would just go in using the web interface but I fear it will take me days to do so any help would be much appreciated.

Kind Regards,
David

Hi,

You don't need to worry about the thumbnails. Just upload the original images in the upload folder that you configured in the Files section of the HikaShop configuration. If you didn't change that setting, the folder should be media/com_hikashop/upload
The system will generate automatically the thumbnails out of the original images when needed.

Hi apologies for late reply (christmas!) and thanks for the advice. Just to clarify I upload the images and the system works it all out do I not need to do some sort of rebuild or anything to kickstart the process? Also do i just put the images up in the root upload directory, not in any sort of folder structure?

Many thanks again,
David

No need to do anything. Since the images are referenced in the database and that your database got restored, the system will automatically look for them and if it find the main image and not the thumbnails, it will generate the thumbnails.
If you used the upload screen of the product edition page to upload your images, they all got stored at the root of the folder media/com_hikashop/upload so just put them there directly.

Hi, I have uploaded all of the images to the upload folder as you suggested and unfortunately it has not worked all of the products are still displaying a no picture image. Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks again for your help.

Hi,

It should have worked.
Can you provide a link to a product page so that we can see it and a screenshot of all the settings of the product page of the same product ?

Hi,

I can see the image entry listed in the "images" area of the product. So if you upload the file with the correct name in the correct folder it should find it.
Please check that the "upload folder" option of the HikaShop configuration is set to the same folder where you uploaded the file for that image and make sure that the name is exactly the same as before.

Hi,

This seem to be correct, please give us a screenshot of the image edition popup when clicking on the edit icon next to the image on the product edition page.

You can too check via phpMyAdmin if the entries in the table "#__hikashop_files" are correct.
