Hi,

I've got products associated to a product category and to manufacturer category as well. When I click on the menu item of the category I can see the products o.k. but when I click on the manufacturer menu item I get nothing.

I've set both menu items to category listing and made sure the content menus are set o.k.
When I check the product I can see that the first assignment is showing o.k. "product category / cleaning products / air"
But the manufacturer will show only the name like so "bermafer", without the "manufacturers /" before.

I've created a new category under root and moved the "bermafer" category to it. Now in the product category assignment I see "newmanufacturer / bermafer" and the products show up in the menu item.

Is there a setting to define the original manufacturer to work and save me the trouble of moving all categories to the new one?

Thanks,

Guy.

Hmmm, reads like you assigned the your products to manufacturer "categories" the same way as you assigned them to product categories. It's not intended this way, and then it won't work, of course.

In the product addition/edition page you have a dropdown for manufacturers/brands, where you can select one for each product. Then, once you set up a content menu or module, you can select the "Type of content" to be manufacturer/brand, so you'd get a listing of your manufacturers, from where you could then also show the products for a manufacturer, etc - all depending on the other settings for the listing.

So, both the category "manufacturer" assignments in the products and possibly also other categories you created directly under root are likely obsolete and can be removed, and it should all work fine.
In case of any more "malfunction" or confusion you might want to post screenshots of your configurations as it would help to see what you've done so far.

Hi lousyfool,

Thank you for your help. That was it indeed.
One thing tough, now I can see the products accordingly but in addition I get all the products in the store displayed underneath the brand products? Could not find the settings to disable this...

Thank you again,

Guy.

Good, glad I could help.

To fully understand your "new" issue (and avoid slight confusion here), can you please describe it better...

  • by posting at least screenshot(s) of your frontend page(s) in question, best with annotations for what you want and what not,
  • ideally by even posting a link to your site - if it's on-line,
  • and by posting a screenshot of the HikaShop configuration of the brands listing menu item?

Hi and thank you again,

After your post I've taken a second look at the content menu parameters and saw that there are "Associated modules" assigned to the item. Don't know where they came from but after I've removed them the problem was solved :)
