Hi Hikashop Support,
I have products which have Characteristics and 2 types of variants ( Size , Colour ) and have different stock quantities on hand populated against each variant.
My Problem is :- When I first select a product from the menu category listing, this displays the main product details and the 2 variant drop down boxes for size & colour and shows stock quantity on hand below that. The stock quantity on hand is incorrect at this point (displays zero 0 stock on hand) and the customer thinks that size & colour is out of stock. There are actually 6 units available stock on hand of that variant.
To correct this display I have to cycle through one of the variant drop down boxes to refresh the product page with the product variant data I.E. select colour “Navy”, then re-select colour “Donkey” and the stock on hand quantity is then correct.
Please refer to 2 screen dump attachments to see the problem.
I have searched though more than 40 pages of forum posts and tried the different variant display options like table, radio button, list etc and tried different combinations of using “unlimited“ or “0” in the main product quantity and other configuration options and searched the change log, but so far have no luck in finding a suitable configuration solution.
Is there a way to make the variant quantity data refresh automatically with the correct quantity for the variant shown, when the product page is first loaded without having to manually cycle a variant drop down box.?
Has this display behaviour been changed in the later versions ?
Thanks very much.

Hi,

I see two potential causes:
1. Either it's a bug we fixed since then and updating would fix it.
2. It's a bug caused by view overrides of your template/you did.

So please check that you don't have a folder templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/html/com_hikashop/product and if you do, try to rename it and see if that helps.
If not, try to update HikaShop and see if that helps.
If not, please provide a link to the product page on an online website so that we can analyze the issue as we are not able to reproduce it.

Hi Nicolas,
I renamed the folder as you described in my Vers 2.3.0 and the problem still occurred, so I had actually downloaded version 2.3.5 yesterday and today created a local “test” duplicate of my existing Joomla Hikashop 2.3.0 website and upgraded this to 2.3.5. The problem was not present in the 2.3.5 version.
So I did some comparisons between the two versions and noticed the vers 2.3.5 backend Characteristics>values listing for colour was sorted on screen alphabetically but the 2.3.0 backend Characteristics>values listing for colours was sorted on screen randomly.

Note I had set the “Characteristics values ordering” value to ‘ordering’ in the Configuration>Main – product tab originally and had set ordering values in the Size Characteristic to display the size ranges ( 7-8, 9-10, 11-13) logically, but had not set any ordering values in the Colour Characteristic yet.

So in the 2.3.0 version I entered ordering values for all 19 colours in the Size Characteristic that would display the list alphabetically and pressed save. The backend Characteristics>values listing instantly resorted on screen by ordering number .
So in the 2.3.0 version frontend I then tried to reproduce the stock on hand problem, but it appears to have been fixed now ! So maybe the Characteristics>values had a “index/sort’ problem and by entering the ordering values in the Colour Characteristic, it rebuilt the “index/sort’ and fixed the problem ?

Can I ask please, if I am entering all my different quantities on hand in each variant including zeros, should the main product quantity be set to Zero or Unlimited, does it matter ?
Does the variant quantity always over ride the main product quantity ?

Anyway I will do some more testing with vers 2.3.5 and upgrade if it all looks OK.
Thank very much for you help.
Shane

Hi,

1. There is no sorting index to rebuilt but will indeed improved the ordering of the values listing to better reflect how the shop is configured. So I'm not quite sure what was your problem but if it's fixed, that's great.

2. You should not set it to 0 but you can set it to unlimited. You can also set it to the total quantity of all the variants and then the system will also update that quantity when a variant is bought.

3. The variant quantity overrides the main product quantity, unless you set the variant quantity to unlimited and set a quantity in the main product. In that case, it's the main quantity which will be used for the variant purchase.
