badge on single product

i want to add some different badges on several individual products
the badge displays the discount but only in rounded percentages

now i can only choose a category, i want to choose a specific product
or better, i would like to choose a specific badge for the product i'm working on

No problem.

Since you can assign badges to categories, all you need to do is create new categories, one per type of badge. Then you assign these categories to as many, or as few, or only one product - as you wish - in addition to the "regular" categories you have assigned to them.

If you run into trouble with category or product listings (because you don't want these new categories to show, or products to be listed twice), unpublish the new badged categories, or place them outside the "Product category" in "Root".

yes that sounds simple
but can i leave those specific categories out of the menu with all categories and subcategories??

That completely depends on your listing configurations.

But as I already said (and I can really only repeat}:
