Hi,

Can you explain why URLs like the following (hikashop-menu-for-brands-listing/cid-62) are being listed in seach engines even though I have from the start set SEF URLs in the canonical options for each product? Why is it that somehow these non SEF hikashop URLs are being found and used?

Thanks

Hi,

Please give us a screenshot of your settings under Configuration > Features > SEF Urls.

Hi Xavier,

Thanks. Screenshot attached and an example product URL would be: www.myshop.de/online-shop/productname

An example category URL would be: www.myshop.de/online-shop/kollektion/categoryname
As I said, sometimes we see these non SEF hikashop URLs when we are working with Google Analytics. So just checking a possible reason for them occuring.

Hi,

Google Analytics will tell you the URLs that are openned on your website, not necessarily the ones that are indexed by search engines.
For example, if you use a third party module to display products in a carousel, or something in the same vein, it might not use the canonical URL of the product and your users will then uses these non canonical URLs. But that doesn't necessarily means that they are indexed by search engines, which should normally use the canonical URL in the meta data of the page, as Google do.
