Category module , more than 2 levels

Hello

i'm using category module positioned left.

3rd level of categories are not showing up, nor products contained in 3rd level cat.
although system is allowing me to create 3rd level, they do not displayed

is there a default limitation on 2 levels on category module?
is there an option were can i increase category levels on module? if so please advise.

it would be nice if there was a relative option to increase category levels.

can this be only solved by creating a menu category listing menu instead ?
