Drop down custom fields

Dear Sir
hope you can help in the following
1. created custom (item color) filed for product, type single drop down , with possible values (black, white, red, black with while, ..), default value is black
2. when added any product, we specify the needed color and it shows in the front end and backend listing no problem

now I have 2 problems
1. when edit product at the backend, all the time the default value (black) appear note the original saved value
2. adding filter on this custom filed, its hows only (black , white, red) and do not show black with white, I made sure there is some products with those values (black with white)

please advice

Can you give me more information about it ? If your customer choose a product color value through your item custom field, you'll find that value when your customer's order will be created through that order details page.

2.
Can you tell me how are you exactly using these filters and how did you configured them ?
