Question about Variants & Main Products

I am having a problem understanding how to set things up properly with products.

I have Product 1 which I have created variants for. And it goes like this:

Product 1 - Model XX-XXX (size 1)
Variant 2 - Model XX-YYY (size 2)
Variant 3 - Model XX-ZZZ (size 3)

When I am in category view I need to be able to choose size 1, size 2 and size 3. So I create a copy of Product 1 and it wont let me add the same variants as the model numbers are the same as Product 1 and its variants. Each size has its own order code and model number so it looks like there is no way to do this?

Because in category view I need to have the sizes selectable becuse they are sleeves for different devices but have the same name, but only are called Sleeve Macbook, Sleeve iPad and so on etc. So when the user clicks on the product, the variant's default needs to be model/product of the sleeve they chose, otherwise it is too confusing for them since they willl see a different price.

Is there a way to do this or am I only able to be able to create a product listing per size? If so its going to be quite tedious and long to setup.

So basically what you are saying is that in order for me to accomplish what I am trying to do is that I can only do it if I have to create those SKUs separately? And the only variants can be is from colours only then.

Hi,

Yes to have a listing with all the different sizes selectable, you will have to create one product per size, then for the colours you can use the custom item fields, this way the colours will be selectable in the listing too, no need to reach the product detail page.
