-- url of the page with the problem -- : www.lotuswithingallery.com
-- HikaShop version -- : 2.5.0
-- Joomla version -- : 3.4.3
-- PHP version -- : 5.3.28
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : Safari 8.05

That title was supposed say: Product Listing and Product Details page don't show the same product and other issues???
[but there is a 49-50 character limit]

Steps to reproduce:
www.lotuswithingallery.com/

a. Hover on Collections at the top and pick Statues, stay on page 1 of products, row 4,
click on statue Shakyamuni - $ 7,800 and it leads to a Thangka Painting for $ 280.00 -
they aren't even the same Main Category :(

b. Hover on Collections at the top and pick Thangka, go to page 2, row 3,
click on the White Tara - $ 1,200 and it leads to a different White Tara that is $ 250 ??

c. Hover on Collections at the top and pick Thangka, go to page 2, row 3,
click on the Vajra Yogini - $ 2,100 and it leads to a different Vajra Yogini that is $ 500 ??

c. Hover on Collections at the top and pick Thangka
then go to page 4 and click on Medicine Buddha ----> it comes to a page - Product Not Found?? how is that even possible if it shows it in the Product Listing?

The Statues and Thangka menus are setup as Hikashop - Product Listing with same options:
see screenshots attached.

HELP, it's a real mess - the Statues section is pretty bad ...

I looked via SequelPro directly at the database and some of the above may be caused
by Aliases and Canonical URLs, somehow some but not all are being created automatically [I didn't include them in
the import .csv file] and the WEIRD part is that even in the same category or sub-category, some of the Canonical URLs look like this:

index.php?option=com_hikashop&ctrl=product&task=show&cid=625&name=white-tara&Itemid=293&category_pathway=37

and some look like this:

collections/thangka/product/white-tara

and some are blank...

As for Aliases, some are listed, some are blank and a few products have the same Alias... [not sure if that's good or bad and if bad why would the system either generate duplicate aliases or allow them]

Something is wrong in the land of Tibet ;)

Cheers,

Emmanuel.

Hi,

The issues indeed come from your setup of aliases and canonical URLs.

First the aliases. It's OK to have the same alias for different products, but only when you have the "remove category and product ids from URLs" setting turned off. If you turn it on, then you'll get such issues because the generated URLs will be the same and thus the system won't know which product to display. So either turn off that setting or enter different aliases.

Second the canonical URLs. It's a bit the same. If you have a canonical URL setup on a product and that you have the "force canonical URLs on listings" setting turned on, the system will direct you to that URL when you click on the product/category.
If the canonical URL is not valid (because the menu structure changed, you changed the alias, or something else), the link won't work anymore. So either:
- enter the correct canonical URL you want for your product
- remove the canonical URL from your product (so that HikaShop generates the URL dynamically).
- turn off the "force canonical URLs on listings" setting of the HikaShop configuration so that the system will generate the URL dynamically instead of using the canonical URL.

Hi Nicolas,

I turned off "remove category and product ids from URLs"

and

changed Force canonical URLs on listings to 'No, generate the URLs' from 'Use Canonical URL, if specified'

and things are back to NORMAL.

The 'weird' part is this - WHEN I had it on 'Use Canonical URL if specified' and 'remove category and product ids from URLs'=Yes, I had removed ALL Canonical URLs in the entire table [via backend database access] and they started reappearing automatically??... i'm not sure HOW they should reappear if you only have it on 'Use Canonical URL if specified'??

Merci.

Emmanuel.

Hi,

I don't see why they would reappear in that case. Maybe you cleared them in the wrong database or something ?

I'm sure but it had and yep it was the right database.

Either way, it's fixed now. Now I just have to get the
Skyline HikaShop Accordion Categories Module to behave with the
new settings [without them changing settings on me] ;)

Cheers,

Emmanuel.
